GERMAN MAUSER K98 STOCKS FOR SALE PATCH
Hey guys, Well I did a strip down of the rifle and found something interesting! and thought I would share it with some folks who would have appreciation for this new found evidence of this particular rifles past, the duffle cut area if you look to the rear of the repair you see a hole that has been pached I was wondering about this it didnt make sense when I took the stock off though it all came together!, this hole is in fact a bullet hole also makes sense from the position I was told it was found in a german foxhole in belgium from a shooting position you would raise your rifle straight up and out of the hole lowering and fireing correct, you can see on the metal corresponding to the hold in the stock rear of the cut and forward from the magazine screw I beleive the german soldier who was holding this rifle was killed in the foxhole sometime in 1944 belgium while raising up to take a shot and this bullet hole and jacket splash on the bottom of the rifle stock and the bullet jacket splash on the bottom of chamber and barrel is hard evidence we will never know for sure but I thought I would share this find with you guys there is also a patch on the rear butt area possible bullet hole repair too, All I can so is I am glad I wasnt holding this rifle when the shit hit the fan!. The byf letters indicate that this rifle was manufactured in Oberndorf, Germany.
GERMAN MAUSER K98 STOCKS FOR SALE SERIAL NUMBER
The serial number 6XXX is matched on all parts and is visible in at least seven locations that I can see. According to my later father, it was much better than the Lee Enfield he carried. The stock still shows the marks of the conflict, but the steel is in good shape and as you may know is of very high quality. In Canada it has been in the family ever since and has been used lightly for deer hunting. In order to fit it into his duffel bag to bring it back to Canada he had to cut the stock. My father was a Lance Corporal in the 23rd Field Regiment RCA during the war and picked this rifle up in a German foxhole in Belgium in 1944. This is the real McCoy that saw action in WW2. WH original items, very good condition This is NOT a Russian Capture stock NB Before buying check with the Customs Department allowed the entry of the goods. I still cant believe I actually found one, with a bit of a documented history from the son of the vet at that! it definately looks like it has been through hell and back, here is the original message from the seller as follows. Stock fo German Mauser K98 with metal parts+upper/lower ring + lock Stock'Schichtholz' for K98. I did some research in the duffle cut stocks on the net most were cut by the handguard correct? The vet must have been in a rush or something lol just hacked it, it is pretty rough but personally I think it adds character kind of in your face proof it is a true matching vet bring back not a RC mixmatched, Question for ya do you think I should try to clean her up a bit? or maybe get it proffesionally restored? there is some rust but just looks like surface rust, any info would be great it is the gem of my collection as of right now.
